International Women’s Day 2023
A day to celebrate women from across the world, International Women’s Day (IWD) was initiated in 1911.
Since then it has been marked annually on March 8th, with this being an important moment in the year for working to advance women’s equality. It belongs to everyone, everywhere, being a truly global day to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women.
Each year a different theme is announced. For IWD 2023, the global campaign theme is Embrace Equity. You can find out more about it here: www.internationalwomensday.com/theme

International Women’s Day with Wayfinder Woman
On Friday 10th March, an event led by Wayfinder Woman, is taking place at the Lansdowne Hotel in Eastbourne from 18.30 to 21.00. This is a FREE event, supported by Care for the Carers, to celebrate the wonderful women in our community.
There will be a panel discussion of “inspirational women” led by our founder Laura Murphy. Teri Sayers-Cooper, our Inclusion and Development Worker at Care For The Carers, will be on the panel and speaking about her role in developing connections with our diverse communities across East Sussex, and why she is passionate about International Women’s Day.
There will also be live music from Tina Bridgman and Tidal Rave plus Wayfinder Woman’s resident artist, Tania, will be doing a live painting to the band’s music which will be auctioned off at the event. There will, of course, be much fun, games and laughter. Drinks and snacks will be available to purchase at the hotel bar.
