Young Carer Sessional Worker

Young Carer Sessional Worker

Actual Salary: £15.39 per hour

Contract term: Permanent on a sessional basis

Location: Across East Sussex

Closing date: no specific closing date as applications welcome throughout the year

As a Young Carer Sessional Worker you’ll be part of our dedicated Young Carer Support Team, providing effective, fun and engaging high quality support to Young Carers at monthly clubs and holiday outings.

This is a great opportunity to take on a rewarding role within a dynamic and passionate team making a real difference to young carers’ lives.

We are looking for sessional young carers workers to actively engage and support to the young carers in our service. Primarily we are looking for workers for our monthly youth clubs, but also to support activities during the school holidays.

Duties will include attending activities to support the session leaders in delivering interesting and fun sessions, providing help as needed to ensure that young people have opportunities to engage safely.

Our role would suit a caring, outgoing, and enthusiastic person with good communication skills, comfortable to engage with young people in a variety of activities and flexible to work on a casual basis including unsocial hours 4pm to 7pm evenings.

Some experience of working with young people would be an advantage along with an understanding of safeguarding.

Who We Are

We run clubs, outings and activities as well as providing one-to-one support and information. Our focus is to give young carers a break, fun, and a chance to meet others in similar situations. We also provide transport to our activities if needed.

What We Do

We are currently looking for sessional workers for the following clubs and activities:

· Monthly Eastbourne Club – first Tuesday of the month, for 3 hours, 4.30pm – 7.30pm

· Monthly Uckfield Club – third Thursday of the month, for 3 hours, 4.45pm – 7.45pm

· Monthly Bexhill Club – second Wednesday of the month, for 3 hours, 4.45pm – 7.45pm

We also run outings and activities throughout the school holidays. Most outings and activities are at local venues in East Sussex and will be approximately 5 hours in length. However, over the summer we also run day longer activities to venues such as theme parks. For 2024 we are going to Legoland.

What We are Looking For

We are looking for workers who could commit to at least:

· One club per month AND one activity per week during the holidays for approximately five hours.

We are particularly interested to hear from the following:

· Those with experience of running sports activities

· Male sessional workers

· Those from diverse communities

· Those from the LGBTQI+ community

· Those who have experience of being a young carer

Please note we reserve the right to close this role prior to the stated closing date. Therefore, candidates are encouraged to apply early as applications will be considered as they are received. This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check, six-month probationary period and satisfactory references.
