Virtual fundraising tips

by | Jul 27, 2020 | Carer News, Fundraising

This is a difficult time for fundraising, and for fundraisers- how can you raise money if we can’t meet up together? Well here I provide my top tips for fundraising during coronavirus, with some fun ideas for you to try.

Online quiz

How about challenging your family and friends for a good cause? Set them a series of fun questions in different categories- general knowledge, sport, history, geography, celebrity, and ask for a donation to enter.

You can now livestream directly from your justgiving page- which means people can donate to you, as the quiz is taking place! It’s quick and easy to set up. To set up a justgiving page for us click here. To learn how to livestream from this page click here.

Virtual challenge

Bored of staying in? You can get active, and raise funds for carers. There are lots of virtual challenges you can take part in. Local Sussex based race management company Nice Work has some great races coming up, from 1 mile runs and school holiday challenges for the kids to half and full marathons- you can compete anywhere, and you even get a fab medal at the end! I have taken part in two so far, and they are great fun. Details of their upcoming challenges can be found here.

Online Auction

Fancy getting your friends together and finding some great prizes? Maybe you are part of a community group who is looking to do a fundraiser? Well an auction is a great, and easy, way to go. Our supporters Heathfield Rotary, recently put on a silent auction and raised over £5,000!! You can see how they did it here. They used the website Jumblebee, anyone can set up their auction from it, with details here.

Facebook fundraisers

More of us are going on social media as we are stuck at home, why not take this opportunity to reach out to your friends and ask them to support unpaid carers? Did you know you can set up a fundraiser from Facebook? It’s quick, easy, and free! You can do it for anything- for your birthday, anniversary, asking friends to donate loose change, or sponsorship for any challenge you want to do- such as how many star jumps can you do in a minute? To set up your Facebook fundraiser click here for details.

If you would like support with any of these ideas, or have one of your own, then I am here to help- you can email me on amyh@cftc.org.uk.

Happy fundraising!
