Teen Talk counselling service launched
We’re delighted to announce the launch of our new Teen Talk Young Carers Counselling Service
Please note that the Teen Talk service is no longer available from July 2021.
The service, which offers 12-18 year-old young carers in Hastings and Rother up to 12 free counselling sessions, is funded by BBC Children in Need for two years.
Jo Egan, Director of Services, says, “We know from speaking to young adult carers that there is a significant gap in counselling provision for young carers. Often young carers are isolated and vulnerable, so we need to be reaching out to teenage carers to support them to deal withthe emotional impact of their caring role. I’m delighted that we are able to launch this much-needed service, and hope that anyone who knows a 12-18 year-old young carer in Hastings or Rother encourages them to access our support.”
Sessions take place after school or college, in community venues in Hastings and Bexhill. Help with transport is available for young carers who would otherwise struggle to attend, and snacks will be provided.
To make a referral to the service or to find out more, contact Care for the Carers on 01323 738390 or info@cftc.org.uk.
