Carers groups
Care for the Carers runs a range of carers groups. Our groups are online and by phone, or face to face. Please check our Carers Groups Directory and What’s On calendar for details. If you are a Young Carer or Young Adult Carer, please contact us for more information about our Young Carers and Young Adult Carers groups.
Carers Information and Advice Groups
These groups are for all carers, facilitated by Carer Support Workers, and take place across East Sussex. The first half of the meeting gives time to meet with other carers, and the second half usually has a guest speaker who brings useful information and advice relevant to carers. We hold one evening group for carers who can’t make it to our day groups.
Carers Wellbeing Groups
These groups are regular informal drop-in groups for all carers, with input at some groups from carer support workers, in several locations across East Sussex. These are usually the ‘next step’ groups for carers after they have been attending Information and Advice Groups for 12 months.
Mental Health Carers Support Groups
These groups are regular meetings for carers of people with mental health issues, facilitated by carer support workers. These are online and in person walking groups.
Young Adult Carers Groups
Our Young Adult Carers (YACs) Groups are monthly evening groups for carers aged 17-25 years, run by carer support workers. To find out the date of the next group, and to request an invitation to the private YAC Facebook group, contact us. Find out more about the group.
Young Carers Groups
Our Young Carers Groups are monthly groups for carers aged 5-17 years. They are a safe place to have fun, games, jokes and laughter, and make new friends. 5pm-6.30pm.
If you are a young carer, or looking for support for young carers, our young carers service is available for carers aged 5-17 years.
Advice for asylum seekers, refugees and new migrant communities
You can also chat about carers issues with one of our Carer Support Workers every second Wednesday of each month at 10.30am – 1pm, at the meetings of the LINKS Project, a support and advice project for asylum seekers, refugees and new migrant communities (BAME) living in East Sussex.
LINKS Project runs a drop in every second Wednesday of each month from 10.30am – 4pm at Concordia Hall, Church Road, St Leonard’s.
For more information about carers groups run by Care for the Carers and our partners, please contact our Carers Hub.
