Two dedicated staff members at Care for the Carers have raised raised over £1,300 for local carers.

Miriam Wilkinson, Head of Communities, took part in the Rathfinny Run at Alfriston and Dan Hermitage, Community Engagement Worker, has hiked the length of The Wicklow Way in Ireland.

Miriam said, “I did it! I am pleased to say the sun was shining and I have completed the 10.7km race at the beautiful Rathfinny. The route was much harder than I expected, one runner called it “hills from hell, views from heaven” which sums it up perfectly.”

The Wicklow Way is a challenging 130km/81 mile hike.

Dan said, “What’s normally done over 7 days we’ve done in 3.5 days. It’s been really tough mentally, physically, and emotionally.”

Care for the Carers supports carers across East Sussex, giving carers a voice and providing services in response to what carers tell us they need. Support includes information and advice groups, specialist groups, one to one support, counselling, activities, and a range of ways for carers to get involved and have their voices heard.
