Leave a Gift in your Will

A Gift in your Will is a lasting legacy of caring.

There are thousands of carers in East Sussex, and caring can impact every area of a person’s life- physical, mental and financial. A legacy gift can touch the lives of more than 10,000 carers every year, for years to come.

If like us you believe that all carers should have the recognition, choices, influence and access to quality support and services that they need and want, then a legacy gift can be one of the easiest and most thoughtful ways to leave a lasting gift of care and ensure no one is left to care alone.

Writing or updating your Will is a significant personal decision and we understand that your friends/ family come first. Any gift- large or small is more valuable than you can ever imagine and provides a lasting legacy of care to those who spend much of their lives caring for others.

Leaving a gift in your Will can be done by speaking to your Will writer when you write your Will or add a Codicil (an amendment to your Will). If you would like to know more about leaving a gift in your Will you can order a copy of our new free Gifts in Wills guide, by post or email, using the form below, emailing info@cftc.org.uk or phoning 01323 738390.

We’d equally love to hear from you if you have already left a gift in your Will so we can say thank you and keep you updated on how your lasting legacy will make a difference to thousands of carers across East Sussex.

Remembering someone special in your Will

You may want to remember someone special by leaving a gift in your Will in their memory, creating a lasting tribute that provides support for future generations of carers. You can find more information on other ways to give in memory on our dedicated webpage, here.

Your support makes a difference

Your lasting kindness supports people like Ian, who cares for his wife Mary who has dementia. He talks about his experiences of caring and support from Care for the Carers.

Older man sitting with head rested on hand“Mary was getting absent-minded and a specialist diagnosed she had early stages of dementia. It was a shock. Mary had a career in teaching, we had children and holidays and we’ve a happy retirement. We came and went and did as we pleased, thought it would go on forever, but it’s so sudden, it’s overtaken us. Sixty years together, and it’s so different now. Mary can’t speak much. She can understand what we’re saying but it’s difficult to get a reaction. Carrying the care of her in your heart…it’s getting worse, that’s the trouble…I just sit in the car and cry.

One difference I’ve noticed with other carers- most seem to have families quite close whereas I haven’t. I’ve got nobody who can pop round for half an hour. It all has to be organised and planned.

I went to one of these day centres with Mary and I heard about Carer for the Carers. I was made aware of the Forum and led to carers’ groups. There were other people in the same boat; we were able to compare notes and help each other.”
