It’s Young Carers Action Day! We are looking forward to using the day to help raise awareness of young carers across the county. There are around 15,000 young carers living across East Sussex who help look after a family member or friend who is ill, disabled or misuses drugs or alcohol.
Young Carers Action Day is an annual event organised by Carers Trust to raise awareness of the pressures placed on so many young people. This year’s theme is ‘Give me a Break’, focusing on the importance of rest and respite for young carers.
Care for the Carers provides respite youth clubs, outings and activities to support these children and young people. Find out more about our Young Carers Service
The theme for YCAD this year is ‘Give us a break’ and the Young Carers Team recently took eleven young carers away on a residential with the support of YHA – a great example of how we work in partnership with other organisations to ensure young carers get access to breaks and opportunities.
Please download one of our posters and share on social media or wherever you can.
