We're now recruiting new trustees!

About the Trustee role

Care for the Carers’ vision is to improve the quality of carers’ lives by helping the local community recognise and value the role of carers, and by enabling carers to access the services and support they require. We are working to make sure that no one is left to care alone.

We need new people to join our Board of Trustees, which helps direct Care for the Carers towards achieving its mission and ensure the organisation is effectively managed. You will need to be able to make a commitment and devote the necessary time, have strategic vision, independent judgement, an ability to think creatively and a willingness to speak your mind.

You will be helping a dynamic and developing charity, which makes a huge difference to local people’s lives, often at the time when they need it the most. We pay all Trustees’ travel expenses, provide an induction into Care for the Carers’ work, and ongoing support.

Ideally, our new Trustees will also have skills and experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Human Resources
  • Legal Expertise
  • Marketing & Fundraising
  • Media & Communication
  • Health and/or Social Care
  • Finance (we are currently seeking a new Treasurer)

We are actively working to increase the diversity of our Board, and are keen to receive applications from people who can contribute a variety of perspectives, experiences and skills, reflecting the rich cultural diversity of East Sussex. For example, you might have experience of being a carer, young carer or young adult carer, you may identify as LGBT or be part of a black, Asian or minority ethnic community.

Our Board meetings are held every other month in Eastbourne. Board members are encouraged to become part of a sub-committee, but this is not mandatory.

Our 2020 Annual General Meeting date will be confirmed soon.
