Carers activities Care for the Carers

Carers activities and events

We run a programme of enjoyable activities to give you a break from your caring role and the opportunity to socialise with other carers. We also offer a range of carers groups across East Sussex and online, and activities and clubs for young carers and young adult carers.

Previous activities include go-karting, wellbeing and pamper days, a comedy night, paint-balling, afternoon teas, a ride on the Bluebell railway, and cookery and baking courses. For details of upcoming carers activities take a look at our What’s On calendar.

To find out about future activities for young carers and young adult carers, please contact our Carers Hub by calling 01323 738390, emailing info@cftc.org.uk, or texting 07860 077300.

Through the year we try to arrange activities across the county and activities organised are varied depending on what carers tell us they would like to do and what we are successful in securing funding for. Our activities are usually very popular, so we prioritise those carers who have not attended one of our activities before. Sometimes we have to restrict activities to carers from a particular area, as a result of funding restrictions.

Respite

There are a range of respite options available to carers in East Sussex, as follows:

To discuss any of these respite options, or if you would like us to help you to access any of the services listed, contact our Carers Hub.

Respite grants

The Healthcare Appointment Respite Grant is available to pay for respite services to enable carers to attend their own healthcare appointments, for carers who have no care provision in place or pay for care themselves.. For more information, visit our grants for carers page.
