Latest Press Releases Care for the Carers gets set for Carers Rights Day 2017 Care for the Carers gets set for Carers Rights Day 2017 Care for the Carers is getting ready for Carers Rights Day 2017, a national campaign taking place on Friday, 24th November which will bring organisations together to help carers in their local community know their rights. The charity – which supports unpaid carers, people who look after a relative, friend or neighbour who couldn’t manage without them, across East Sussex – is joining the campaign to ensure that local carers are aware of their rights. Jennifer Twist, Chief Executive Officer at Care for the Carers, said: “Carers Rights Day is a great opportunity to raise of awareness of unpaid carers, caring and what carers’ rights are. There are an estimated 65,000 unpaid carers in East Sussex, many of whom may be unaware that they are entitled to support, and even those who have been caring for years sometimes may not be aware of what is available and could be missing out on financial and practical support. “Care for the Carers can provide unpaid carers with information about their rights, available support and how they can access local services. We would encourage anyone who would like more information to contact us and speak to one of our carer support workers.” Carers Rights Day events are happening across the county, and for more information please visit www.cftc.org.uk/Event/carers-rights-day-events, call 01323 738390 or email [email protected]. -ENDS- Editor’s notes Care for the Carers Care for the Carers is the carers centre for East Sussex and an independent charity supporting unpaid carers across the county.
