Thank you so much to everyone who voted for Care for the Carers to become Sainsbury's Eastbourne Arndale Centre's Charity of the Year 2018

We're excited to begin working with staff and customers at Sainsbury's in central Eastbourne, and have met up with its management team to discuss ways we can help raise awareness of unpaid carers across East Sussex, many of whom are likely to be shoppers at the store.

Staff at the supermarket will take part in some Carer Awareness Training (we also have a forthcoming public training session open to all, taking place in Hastings on Thursday 6 September), and we may run a group or activity for carers in the store's public meeting room.

"We are so pleased to have the support of so many people in Eastbourne, and from Sainsbury's staff too. Thanks so much to all who voted, " says Amy Hope, Fundraising Manager at Care for the Carers. "We can't wait to get started with raising awareness of and funds to support unpaid carers, a staggering 11,000 of whom live in Eastbourne," she says.

From now on shoppers at the branch will be able to make cash donations in buckets available at each till, and we'll be running information stands within the store and explaining more about what Care for the Carers does for carers across the county.

Please visit our website or check in on social media for more updates about our activities as they develop throughout the year. Once again, thanks to everyone who voted, and to all the staff at Sainsbury's Arndale Centre. We're looking forward to working together to help support unpaid carers across East Sussex.
