Happy 20th Birthday for Care for the Carers!

Birthday celebrations were in full swing on December 10th 2009 when Care for the Carers hosted a very special party for carers, guests and V.I.P’s at the Winter Gardens in Eastbourne.

The event commemorated twenty years supporting local carers, and also served to highlight the huge impact and contribution that carers make by looking after an ill, frail or disabled relative or friend.

Eastbourne Mayor and mayoress Greg and Clare Szanto, Councillor Maureen Charlesworth, mayor of Hastings and guests were entertained by ‘Sally & Friends’. The talented trio –students of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff - had held one-off fund raising events in the college city to cover their transport costs to Eastbourne to sing to the appreciative audience.

One carer and his wife said, “It was beautiful walking into that room, following a lovely welcome by the staff. It was a wonderful party but most of all we enjoyed the opportunity to share the day out together”.

The event finale was a raffle prize draw of hampers supplied by Care for the Carers staff and local supporters.
